Dermal fillers are injected into different layers of skin to add support, refresh and hydrate, add definition and improve skin integrity and subtle contours.
With age, we start to lose volume in certain areas of the face. Skin integrity thins, underlying fat pads can start shrinking, muscular strength changes and the underlying bone also undergoes dynamic evolution. From the age of about 35 onwards, a noticeable decrease in volume occurs in the upper part of the face. The results are flattened cheeks, jowling (sagging of the jaw line) and looser skin, which wrinkles more easily.
Dermal fillers are injected into the skin to help restore loss of volume in the cheeks, enhance and define the lips, fill in facial wrinkles around the mouth and generally restore a smoother more youthful appearance. A receding chin and nose with a slight downward turn can also be artistically corrected with fillers. Replenishing volume around the temples can create an elegant profile, and treating dark circles around the eyes can brighten and refresh a tired look.
Injectable muscle relaxants and dermal fillers provide our team with the tools required to remove the need for the scalpel and maintain a youthful appearance. These anti-ageing treatments allow us to match the natural consistency of different facial tissues to support, lift and sculpt the face, subtly and naturally enhancing youthful and attractive features.
As dermal fillers create a beautifully soft and natural appearance, we use them to replenish structure, restore volume, create contour and elegantly enhance. Quite often anti-wrinkle treatment is used in conjunction with dermal filler to provide the most natural result.
Common areas for dermal filler treatment:
We will perform a full facial assessment prior to having a discussion with you to develop a comprehensive and personalised treatment plan. Dermal filler treatment is done with either a needle or cannula depending on the area and desired outcome. There are various options for local anaesthetic including medical grade topical cream, local injection or nerve block for an area.
Most procedures are completed within 30 to 60 minutes.
While most filler treatments are instantaneous, we always book a post treatment review 2-3 weeks after your treatment. This provides time for the filler to integrate with your natural tissue and look its best.
Depending on the area and type of filler used, dermal filler can last anywhere from 6 to 18 months. Follow up treatments every 6 to 12 months will ensure your result is naturally maintained.
Given that dermal filler treatment is completed via injection, there may be some mild swelling and bruising after the procedure. Depending on the area, this should settle over a couple of days.
There is a risk of some redness, swelling or bruising following treatment.
Some treatment areas carry their own particular risks including reactivation of cold sores, as well as vascular occlusion where some product blocks a blood vessel and can cause an area of necrosis (skin death) or in very rare cases blindness. By ensuring you have dermal filler treatment with an experienced and qualified Doctor, these risks are minimised and you can feel rest assured that you are in qualified, safe and experienced hands.
We provide a complimentary consultation for all new patients to assess their unique features and facial profile and to understand their expectations. Based on your facial profile and skin integrity, we will discuss the best options to enhance your natural beauty.
